35th FIFF announces films for official selection lineup

The titles of official selection lineup at the 35th Fajr International Film Festival is revealed.

The titles of official selection lineup at the 35th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival have been announced.

Fajr International Film Festival secretary Reza Mirkarimi released the lineup for Cinema Salvation, the official competition of the 35th edition of Iran’s most important event in film industry on Monday.

Speaking at Tehran’s Charsou Cineplex, he said 15 films will go on screen in Cinema Salvation section.

Three films from Iranian directors, including ‘Negar’ by Rambod Javan, ‘End of Dreams’ by Mohammad-Ali Talebi and ‘Home’ by Asghar Yousefinejad are among the films.

The lineup also includes ‘Blindness’ by Ryszard Bugajski from Poland, ‘Mother’ by Riri Riza from Indonesia, ‘Exiled’ by Davis Simanis from Latvia, ‘Guilty Men’ by Ivan D. Gaona Colombia, ‘Ivan’ by Alyona Davydova from Russia, as well as ‘Glory’ co-directed by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov from Bulgaria and Greece.

Established in 1982, the Fajr International Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 35th International Fajr Film Festival is scheduled to take place in the country’s capital of Tehran from April 21 through 28, 2017.
